Clean-Up Campaign at Ndamukong to Foster Social Cohesion on World Peace Day 2024
As part of the activities commemorating World Peace Day 2024, under the theme “Cultivating a Culture of Peace, CAGEAD organized a clean-up campaign and an intergenerational dialogue in Ndamukong, a neighborhood in Bamenda. The event saw the participation of more than 50 community members, including men, women, youths, and children, all coming together to enhance cleanliness in their community.
This initiative not only aimed at cleaning the surroundings but also served as a powerful platform for promoting peace and social cohesion within the community. This collective effort brought happiness and joy to the people as they cooperated and helped one another to make the road passable. The human investment activity was a testament to how environmental stewardship can lead to social harmony, reflecting the broader goals of World Peace Day in nurturing peaceful coexistence among diverse individuals.
The intergenerational dialogue was also a meaningful and insightful event, as members of the Mboini peace club shared the experiences they’ve had so far, as far as peace building in Ndamukong is concerned. The presentation on the background of World Peace Day set a strong foundation for discussions about community values, attitudes and behaviors that could enhance understanding, and cooperation among different generations.
The question and answer session also provided an opportunity for participants to delve deeper into the topic, clarify their doubts, and express their perspectives, further enriching the dialogue.
The community members appreciated the initiative by CAGEAD, and added that, through initiatives like this, communities can build stronger bonds and a shared commitment to maintaining a peaceful and clean environment.
