Fireside dialogue: CAGEAD discusses sexual reproductive health rights in Fundong

Fireside dialogues serve as a medium for sharing stories, exchanging knowledge, and fostering community understanding. It is on that note that CAGEAD together with stakeholders, parents, guardians, and adolescent girls and young women gathered around the metaphorical fire to discuss essential issues about sexual reproductive health rights.

The fireside dialogue which held in Fundong, Boyo Division, with over 30 participants, served as an important platform to discuss taboo subjects such as menstruation, HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health rights, and healthy relationships aiming to break stigmas surrounding these topics.

By creating an open and safe environment, the dialogue empowered young women with vital knowledge while encouraging parents to foster more effective communication with their children. Participants shared personal stories and best practices, highlighting the critical role that families and communities play in enhancing health outcomes.


The collaborative nature of these discussions emphasized the necessity of partnership in addressing health-related challenges, showcasing how informed dialogue can lead to more supportive and proactive approaches to reproductive health and education. Most of the participants especially Fathers left promising to take up some responsibilities that they thought was the sole responsibility of the women, like buying sanitary pads for their daughters, while the mothers said they will try as much as they can to give their children the necessary privacy they need, there by enhancing their communication.
