Success stories from MHM clubs Tinifoinbi and Fundong: AGYWs share their experiences
Club Session St Jude College, Fundong
We believe that knowledge is power, and empowering AGYWs with knowledge on menstrual hygiene management is our mission.
During our recent club sessions in Tininfoinmbi a community in Njinikom and St. Jude's college Fundong, we witnessed firsthand, how education can transform not just attitudes, but futures.
Our sessions focused on; understanding the biology of menstruation, mastering best practices for menstrual hygiene, and learning how to track menstrual cycles using pocket calendars and menstrual beads. These practical tools are already proving useful for many girls, helping them manage their periods with confidence and clarity.
“Before joining the MHM club, I didn’t really understand what was happening to my body during menstruation. Now I know the secret behind it, and I am proud, not ashamed.”
Emmanuela Nih, an MHM Club member from the Tinifoinmbi community testifies.
Few kilometers away from Tinifoinmbi, At St. Jude's College Fundong, Mah Carine Nkemnjuh, another MHM club member, shares her experience:
“Using the menstrual cycle circle, beads, and the pocket calendar has helped me understand my cycle in a new way. It makes it easier to for me prepare as I expect my period, and I now talk freely with my friends about how to stay clean and healthy during my period.”
Mah Carine Nkemnjuh, Club Member St Jude Collage, Fundong.
With accurate information and safe spaces to talk openly, these girls are learning to take control of their health and dignity.
listening to these stories highlights the importance of continuous investment in menstrual health education. When girls have the knowledge and tools to manage their periods safely and with dignity, it does more than improve hygiene; infact it boosts school attendance, self-esteem, and community awareness.
We keep pushing forward to break harmful taboos and ensure that no girl ever feels ashamed of a natural, healthy process like Menstruation. With continuous support from partners and funders, we hope to expand these initiatives to reach more communities and ensure that every girl has the chance to thrive.
Together, we can turn menstruation from a source of silence and shame into a platform for empowerment and pride.
